Princeton’s GCEPS

The Griswold Center for Economic Policy Studies (GCEPS) at Princeton University, established by Alan S. Blinder in 1989, is dedicated to supporting policy-related research in economics and fostering dialogue among academics, business leaders, and policymakers.

It emphasizes rigorous research on key economic policy areas such as debt, monetary policy, trade, job security, tax, healthcare, and financial regulation. Through its visiting scholars program, public talks, and research funding, GCEPS aims to influence economic policy.

The center also hosts forums and symposia, like The Spring Symposium, to which we have been invited, connecting experts to discuss and share insights on economic and financial policy issues.

The Spring Symposium

Scheduled for April 26-27, 2024, the Spring Symposium is an invitation-only gathering that attracts the brightest minds in economics, policy, and technology.

The symposium’s theme, "The Economic Implications of AI," highlights the urgency and importance of understanding how AI is reshaping the landscape of global economies, labor markets, and industrial practices.

Economic Perspectives From Prominent Figures

David Autor will lay the foundation for the symposium with his opening keynote, leveraging his extensive expertise as the Ford Professor of Economics at MIT.

Following him, Jan Hatzius, Chief Economist and Head of Global Investment Research at Goldman Sachs, will provide an economic outlook and insights into the financial sector.

The event will conclude with Hal Varian, Chief Economist at Google and Emeritus Professor at UC Berkeley, delivering the closing keynote.

The Economic Implications of AI

Artificial Intelligence has become a global phenomenon; an innovation that surpasses geographical boundaries. Its implementation in all areas of our lives will introduce new markets, new jobs, different education, and skill training, breaking away from traditional paradigms.

Beyond the fascinating applications and boundless possibilities that Artificial Intelligence offers, many wonder about AI's economic footprint. Predictive algorithms, Generative AI, and advanced image recognition, for example, redefine efficacy across the board.

Generative AI Applications

Thinking about how Artificial Intelligence boosts productivity and changes jobs opens up a lot of tough questions. While it's clear that AI can make us more productive, the way it is starting to shape jobs and the economy needs a closer look.

The question of AI’s role in boosting global economies, creating jobs, changing labor demand, and introducing challenges like wealth inequality and job displacement is what motivates the discourse in symposiums like this one. They serve as a platform for addressing these issues, aiming to explore new markets and job profiles influenced by AI.

A Blueprint for AI Adoption

We will show how the strategic deployment of these technologies can significantly boost your business rather than hinder its progress. Our goal is to turn the conversation towards AI's vast benefits and transformative potential in the business landscape.

Business leaders, academia, and policymakers share a common goal—a unified blueprint for AI adoption that harmonizes technological innovation with societal welfare.

Showcasing Our Forward-Thinking Strategy

The Spring Symposium 2024 theme drives an expansive and inclusive narrative. It goes beyond business and economics, touching on how society is intertwined with the rise of AI. This is an opportunity for us to show that we are not just an observer but an experienced participant as well.

While acknowledging AI's economic implications is crucial, our focus at the symposium and as a company is on assisting businesses through this transition.
